Upon arrival at the Chengdu International Airport, you will be greeted by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel.
Today you will visit the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, famous for its breeding program and home of the Giant Pandas and their gorgeous cousins, the Red Pandas. Afterwards your tour manager will take you on a Chengdu City Tour. During the tour you will head to the Jinli Old Street, and Kuan & Zhai Alley; an area unique for its fusion of ancient and modern China. The shop keepers, and waiters dress in traditional style clothing, making this street feel as though you have stepped back in time. Today’s optional special dinner: Hot Pot- Enjoy a traditional Sichuan hotpot.
Explore Chengdu city at your own pace. Alternatively join the optional tour with your local guide too see the Leshan Giant Buddha. The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-metre-tall stone statue that has been carved out of the side of a towering cliff face. It is the largest stone Buddha in the world, and it is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world.
Today you will be transfered to Beijing by flight. Upon arrival you will visit Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world and the spiritual heart of China. Afterwards, you will be able to explore the city on your own or you can join the optional Hutong tour to explore the Hutong neighbourhood on rickshaw, and visit a local family for lunch. The Hutong neighbourhood is one of Beijing’s rapidly disappearing traditional districts.
In this morning, travel to China’s most iconic sight – The Great Wall. Once on top of this ancient defensive structure, you’ll find that some sections are quite steep. However, the views are magnificent and the experience is truly unforgettable. Your Visit to the Great Wall will be followed by a stop at a Jade Factory to learn about Chinese Jade – China’s most precious and celebrated
Head to the famous Gubei Water Town – also known as the Star Town under the Great Wall. Today you will be staying overnight at Gubei Water Town and you will enjoy the night scene of the Great wall – Simatai Section.
Today you will continue to explore the Gubei Water Town at your own pace. You will enjoy and experience an old- fashioned simplicity and elegance. Row upon row of houses, old quartzite streets and long Hutongs show the style and features of the old town. River channels are scattered between streets; houses near the river are bathed in sunlight. Alternatively, you have options to experience unique local customs and participate in a range of activities.
Today you’ll be heading back to Beijing in the morning. Practice Tai Chi at the Temple of Heaven. Tai Chi is an internal martial art system which places emphasis on the development and control of Chi (Consciousness) energy within the body. Afterwards, you can experience an oriental foot massage at a traditional Chinese Medical Centre where you will learn about alternative treatments for illness, and will have a chance to consult with a Chinese Medical professional. Today you will be transferred from Beijing to Xi’an by bullet train. Upon arrival, you will be met by your tour guide, and will be transferred to your hotel.
Today you will explore the ancient wonders of Xi’an. For a period of more than 1,000 years, Xi’an served as China’s capital city and remains home to a great number of precious relics and historical sites. Your tour today will include a visit to the Terracotta Warriors, and the lively Moslem Street. The Terracotta Warriors site is widely considered as the eighth wonder of the world and was discovered by accident in 1974. You will see the army of over 7,000 soldiers, archers, horses and chariots that has guarded Emperor Qin’s tomb since 210BC. Each figure is unique, and the painstaking repair and excavation continues to this day. After lunch, you will walk through the famous Moslem Street, where many souvenirs and delicious local snacks can be sampled.
Today you will be transfered to Chongqing by bullet train. Spend some time exploring the city of Chongqing. In the afternoon you will board the Yangtze River Cruise ship, and will begin your memorable 3-night cruise down the Yangtze River.
Join the shore excursion in the morning and visit the Fengdu Ghost City to find out why it is regarded as the “City of Ghosts”. The temples built on Ming Mountain depict punish instruments, and demon paintings, and demonstrate the Chinese people’s imagination of hell. Today, you will also have a chance to join an optional excrusion to visit the legendary Shibaozhai. The site has a history of over 400 years when it was built into the side of a 200 metre tall hill. The striking 9 story red pagoda was built in 1819 to make it easier for people to reach the Buddhist temple at the very top of the hill.
Today’s shore excursion explores the Lesser Three Gorges or Shennong Stream (Depending on the cruise ship) – a shinning pearl hidden in the remote mountains. You will leave your cruise ship, and will board smaller vessels to sail through the narrower, and breathtaking Lesser Three Gorges region, lined by sheer cliffs and mountains. Along the Yangtze River you will appreciate the beauty of the Qutang Gorge, and Wu Gorge, and will visit the ancient plank road, Mengliang Stairway, and the Hanging Coffins. You may also want to join an optional excursion to visit the White Emperor City, an ancient temple that is located atop Baidi Mountain on the northern bank of the Yangtze River in Fengjie County.
Disembark the cruise in Yichang, and join the shore excursion to visit the Three Gorges Dam Site. The Three Gorges Dam Site is one of the largest construction projects undertaken by mankind, and is the biggest hydropower project in the world. Then, you will be transferred to the airport to catch the flights home.
